Sky replacement

You can't schedule the weather. You can fix what it did to your exteriors.

What it does

What Sky Replacement does.

An overcast sky flattens an exterior: grey light, no shadows, a white void where the sky should be. Rescheduling a shoot for weather costs more than the listing usually allows.

Sky replacement swaps in a clean blue or soft gradient sky, blended with respect for rooflines, chimneys, and tree canopy — and grades the house to match, so the light direction stays believable.

Studio — Sky Replacement

Watch the edit happen.

An overcast exterior resolving into a clear blue sky
Ridge, gable and gutter edges stay crisp against the new sky, with no bright halo where the roof meets it.
The tree canopy at the frame edge is matted against the new sky rather than smeared into it, the hardest edge in the picture.
The lawn takes the sunlight but stays patchy where it really is patchy. Graded, not replaced.

Shoot in any weather

The schedule stops depending on the forecast — grey-day exteriors become usable hero shots.

Edges that survive zooming

Roof lines, gutters, and tree canopy stay crisp — no smudged halo where sky meets structure.

The house gets graded too

A sunny sky over a gloomy facade is the tell. We match the light temperature on the building, not just the backdrop.

Batch the whole exterior set

Front, back, and aerials done together so every outdoor frame agrees on the weather.

How it works

From upload to delivered.

  1. 1

    Upload the exteriors

    Any daylight exterior, however grey.

  2. 2

    Pick blue or golden

Clean blue for standard sets, soft gradients for warmer looks.

  3. 3

    Graded exteriors back

Sky and facade graded together, edges intact around rooflines and trees.

Questions

Good questions.

Is sky replacement acceptable for MLS photos?

It's one of the most common listing-photo edits and broadly treated as standard enhancement, since it changes the weather, not the property. Boards vary — check your local MLS rules if in doubt.

What about photos where the sky reflects in windows?

Strong window reflections get graded toward the new sky so the frame stays coherent — it's part of why we grade the whole image rather than pasting a backdrop.

Can you do dramatic sunset skies?

For full golden-hour looks with glowing windows, use Virtual Twilight — sky replacement is for making daytime frames look like the day you wanted.
