Benchmark ranges compiled from published market pricing — a typical full listing shoot runs $110–$500 nationally. Local rates vary; treat this as a starting point, not a quote.
How it works
Pick your market tier, the property’s size, and the services in the package — the stills package with its photo count, drone aerials, twilight shots, a video walkthrough, a 3D tour or floor plan, and virtual staging. The calculator prices each line from published benchmark ranges, adjusts for market and square footage, and returns a low, typical, and high figure for the whole package.
It gives you a range instead of a single number because pricing is a positioning decision. In photographer mode, the typical figure is what comparable packages go for — where you sit inside the range should track your portfolio, turnaround, and how full your calendar already is. In agent mode, the same math reads as what a fair quote looks like, so you can weigh bids with context instead of guessing.
Rush delivery and travel are priced as separate lines rather than baked into the package — clients accept fees they can see, and you’ll know exactly which line to point at when one quote runs higher than another.
Methodology
Every line starts from a benchmark range compiled from published market pricing — nationally, a full listing stills shoot runs about $110–$500 — then two multipliers adjust it to the job. Nothing is hidden: this is the entire model.
Base photo package
An interior-and-exterior stills package benchmarks at $120–$240 for 15 photos (typical $170) up to $250–$520 for 50 (typical $360) — roughly $7–$12 per photo before adjustments.
Market multiplier
The same package supports different prices in different markets: ×0.8 in a small town, mid-size cities as the baseline, and ×1.35 in a major metro — tracking local listing prices and what photographers there charge.
Property size
Square footage scales the services where a bigger home means more time on site — the photo package, video, and 3D tour — from ×0.9 under 1,500 sq ft to ×1.5 above 5,000. Drone and twilight are exterior work, so they scale with market alone.
Add-on services
Before adjustments: drone aerials $100–$250, twilight shots $75–$200, video walkthroughs $250–$600, and a 3D tour or floor plan $150–$350. Virtual staging is digital work priced at $20–$45 per staged photo, so market and size don’t apply.
Rush and travel
Next-morning rush delivery adds 20–30% of the package subtotal. The first 15 one-way miles are included; past that, $0.70–$1.50 per mile covers the round trip and drive time.
Each line is rounded to the nearest $5 and the total is the sum of those lines, so the breakdown always matches the headline number. These are benchmarks from market data — not quotes, and not a promise of what your market will pay.
Setting your price
How much should you charge for real estate photography?
Work out your floor before you look at the range: count every hour a job actually takes — driving, shooting, culling, editing, delivering. A $230 shoot that consumes six hours pays under $40 an hour before software, gear, and insurance, which is why cutting editing time does more for margin than nudging prices up. Then position deliberately. The typical figure is your market’s center of gravity; sit above it when your portfolio and turnaround earn it. And if you’re booked solid two weeks out, that is the calendar telling you you’re underpriced.
What should agents expect a listing shoot to cost?
A stills-only shoot runs $110–$500 nationally, drone adds $100–$250, and a full package with video and a 3D tour often passes $800. Compare quotes on the effective per-photo rate and turnaround rather than the headline number — a cheaper bid that delivers fewer photos, or delivers them three days later, is rarely the better deal. Questions
How much does real estate photography cost?
Across the US, a standard listing photo shoot typically runs $110–$500 based on published market pricing. A 25-photo package in a mid-size market lands around $230; major-metro rates and larger homes push toward the top of the range. A full media package — photos plus drone, twilight, video, and a 3D tour — can pass $800 in many markets.
How much should I charge for real estate photography as a beginner?
Start near the low end of your market's range — around $120–$170 for a 15-photo package in a mid-size city — and treat it as a portfolio-building price, not a permanent one. Know your floor first: add up drive, shoot, cull, and edit time for a real job, and never price a package below what those hours cost you.
Do real estate photographers charge per photo or per shoot?
Most charge per shoot, with package tiers set by photo count and square footage. Effective per-photo rates typically land between $8 and $15 — this calculator shows the rate for your exact package, so you can compare quotes built either way.
How much do drone photos add to the price?
Drone aerials benchmark at $100–$250 as an add-on in most markets, usually for five to eight aerial stills. In the US, paid drone work requires an FAA Part 107 remote pilot certificate — photographers should carry it, and agents should ask for it.
What is a normal travel fee for a photographer?
Most photographers include the first 10–20 miles in the base price, then charge roughly $0.70–$1.50 per mile beyond that to cover the round trip and drive time. This calculator includes the first 15 one-way miles before the fee starts.
How accurate is this pricing calculator?
It returns benchmark ranges compiled from published market pricing, not quotes. Real prices move with local competition, season, experience, and what usage rights are included. Use the typical figure as a starting point, then adjust for what your own market and calendar tell you.
